She joined as Sister Placida on October 08, 1864 the "Clemens Sistersof Charity" in Muenster.
Completely absorbed by the spirit of the order, Sister Placida livedonly for her duties.
In 1866, she worked as a devoted nurse in the Dresden theatre of war,and in 1870 also in Ars-sur-Moselle.
Later she worked in the Koblenz Garrison Hospital.
For 8 1/2 years she was the loyal and respected nurse of EmpressAugusta, wife of Emperor Wilhelm Ist.
After Augusta's death, she returned to Muenster, where she held for along time the difficult and demanding position of the local ClemensHospital Abbess.
On April 18, 1906, she was called to her maker away from the diverseduties of her last years. She was remembered by all who experiencedher helpfulness, kindness and gentleness.
Evidence of the great esteem and admiration, which the deceasedenjoyed in wide circles is: the great attendance at her burial(she wasburied in the afternoon of the Low Sunday of 1906.)
The Supreme President of Westfalen as representative of the Emperor,the head of the Provincial Government, the Bishop's administrators,the Head of the City, representatives of all the regiment, being inGarrison in Muenster, The band of the 13th Infantry Regiment as wellas approx. 1000 people escorted the humble nun to the cemetery.
